About Us

In many cases the limits that we place on ourselves are artificial.

Of course there are limits, rules, and boundaries in the modern world that must be honored. But in many cases we put artificial limits on ourselves based our own knowledge gaps or lack of experience. At Travels With Paco we help you escape those artificial limits. Our expert guides and experience hosts help you discover places, activities, and milestones that you never thought you could reach.  Whether it be summiting a new peak, seeing a new wildlife species, or simply meeting and conversing with people you never imagined you’d meet, we can help you get there.

We have decades of experience in the travel business, and have deep expertise in traveling to places where most tourists would not go. We also know how to travel in lower impact, more environmentally sustainable ways, using electric trucks for transportation, carbon offsets, and accommodations that have implemented sustainable management best practices. We also have years of experience traveling with dogs, and can help you navigate the sometimes challenging rules, so that both you and your four-legged friends enjoy the experience.

For now we focus on custom experiences for small and medium sized groups, for locations in North America, Latin America, and the Caribbean. We have no standard packages because we want to tailor each experience to each group. If you think we are the right match for your group, we invite you to contact us for a free consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Paco, and where does the name of the company come from?

Paco is our beloved five-year-old Spanish Water Dog. The name “Travels With Paco” is inspired by one of our favorite books, Travels With Charley in Search of America, by John Steinbeck.  Steinbeck describes travels he took across America in his pickup truck, accompanied by his French Poodle named Charley. While we can’t always match the adventurousness of John Steinbeck and Charley, today our family likes to travel with Paco in our electric pickup truck, a Rivian R1T, which we nicknamed “Rocinante 2.0” after Steinbeck’s truck. Steinbeck called his truck “Rocinante,” in a playful homage to Don Quixote’s trusty steed. If you like to explore new places and you haven’t yet read Travels With Charley, we highly recommend it!
